Zinnia and the bees is a book about Zinnia (which is actually a name of the flower too!) who in course of one summer learns to deal with fear, learns how to deal with the loss and above all find out who she is

A colony of honeybees mistakes seventh-grader Zinnia’s hair for a hive ― and that’s the least of her problems.

While Zinnia's classmates are celebrating the last day of seventh grade, she's in the vice principal's office, serving detention. Her offense? Harmlessly yarn-bombing a statue of the school mascot. When Zinnia rushes home to commiserate with her older brother and best friend, Adam, she's devastated to discover that he's gone ― with no explanation. Zinnia’s day surely can't get any worse . . . until a colony of honeybees inhabits her hive-like hair!(source:goodreads)

This book will bring to you all sort of feelings. It made me laugh,it made me cry,it made me wonder. It's beautifully written, especially  chapters with bees. This book is just special. In amazing way it deals with pain, with loss, fear, friendship, even crush. It's just written like that many of kids will identify themself with Zinnia. Also,I love how the relationship between Adam and Zinnia were described. I had enough of relationship between siblings that hate each other and they fight all the time. But not Adam and Zinnia. Adam and Zinnia are siblings that care about each other and I think that's special kind of love.

Adam told me once I was named Zinnia and he was named Adam because our dad wanted his kids to experience everything in the world from A to Z. That’s how I used to feel with Adam, like we had all the letters of the alphabet connecting us.

But now he’s left me here, a dangling Z.

I’ll turn thirteen next year. Will Adam even be here?

Zinnia's mother,Dr. Flossdrop, was written like some kind of villain, and I must admit,I couldn't understand her in the beginning. But as the story went,I understand her on so many ways and all the things she did make sense.
Also, friendship between Birch and Zinnia was so sincere and honest and it melt my heart. Everybody needs Birch in their life.
And I must say,I liked that the bees were a big part of this book. It's always interesting to read from a point of view of an animal. But I think that bees here have a deeper meaning. They show as that sometimes fear is not so scary thing. That you can show fear and still be loved, respected. That fear shapes us and if we have people who loves us,there is nothing that we can't get over.

Everybody needs to feel at home. Even if it's not excatly, perfectly the kind of home you always thought you wanted.

Overall,I liked this book! I think kids will love it,but adults too! If you need a book that will make you wonder, and a book that will make you warm inside, then Zinnia and the bees is the right book for you!
