Eight days on planet Earth is a magnificent book about life, death, about universe. It's about what it means to be human. This book shows us what it really means to be alive and actually feel like it.

To the universe, eight days is a mere blip—but to Matty Jones, it may be just enough time to change his life.

On the hot summer day Matty’s dad leaves for good, a strange girl suddenly appears in the empty field next to the Jones farm—the very field in rural Pennsylvania where a spaceship supposedly landed fifty years ago. She is uniquely beautiful, sweet, and smart, and she tells Matty she’s waiting for her spaceship to return to pick her up.

Of course she is.

Matty has heard all the impossible UFO stories for all of his seventeen years: the conspiracy theories, the wild rumors, the crazy belief in life beyond the stars. As a kid, he searched the skies with his dad and studied the constellations. But all that is behind him now. Dad’s gone and Matty’s stuck.

But now there is Priya. The self-proclaimed alien girl. She must be crazy or high, right?

As Matty unravels the mystery of Priya, he realizes there is far more to her than he first imagined.
And if he can learn to believe in what he can’t see: the universe, aliens…love…then maybe the impossible is possible, after all.(source:goodreads)

I'm not gonna write a lot about this book because I think it's best if you go blind with this book, but this book BLEW MY MIND! It's so good! It talks about important things, but ordinary ones. This books shows us that sometimes all that matters is to feel wind on your face or to just stop and look up to the sky. This book broke my heart. It's written so good. I liked the style very much,it just sucked me in. Matty and Priya were amazing characters. I liked their relationship and it felt so real. They were together for only eight days, but they lived a lifetime together. This book has a really important message that we shouldn't take anything for granted because maybe it's their last day on Earth.

How long does it take to travel 13 light-years to Earth?
How long does it take to fall in love?

If there wasn't Matty's mother there wouldn't be a thing I did not like about this book. I think that her behaviour just wasn't acceptable. It kinda bothered me. But Matty and Priya was done fantastic. Matty is just a real boyfriend material. He is so kind, and charming and his love for Priya is for respect. He has a problem with his father, but I think that's because he missed him. And their relationship is really special and it shows what a relationship between parent and a kid should look like. And Priya reminded me so much of Luna from Harry Potter. She's crazy, and kind and magnificent in every way. And when Matty and Priya fell in love it melt my heart.

Overall,I adore this book. It has everything I love. Space, love, quirky charaters and an important message. If you love books that will leave you without breath and that will stay in your heart forever then this is the perfect book for you. Because this book will hurt you. It will crush your heart and you will be crushed for days, but in the end I'm sure this book will become your favorite one. This book will teach you about what's really important in your life and that sometimes we should live like we have only eight days on planet Earth.

Rating: a million stars

About author
When I was a teenager, the very first book I ever tried to write was pretentious and stilted and set in a future where there was no paper. Obviously, I fancied myself another Ray Bradbury (who I was thrilled to meet not once but twice!). The book had an awesome title and no plot but I had the most fun creating the characters and the world they lived in. That to me is the most enjoyable part of writing a novel: envisioning a world and populating it with all kinds of people and dogs. Gotta have a dog.

The worlds I create now as an adult are based on my travels from coast to coast in the US, to Europe and Mexico and Canada, and on the people I have met and loved and admired and feared. And dogs.

Currently I live in Los Angeles. With my dog.
