Geekerella

“Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite.”

*I wanna thank Quirk books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This doesn't effect in any way on my opinion on book.*

Geekerella is a charming book about Ella and Darien,Prince and Cinderella in modern life.

"Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

I enjoyed Geekerella so much! Even though it's a romance which I'm not a fan of,Cinderella was my favourite story when I was little girl,so this was so good. Even though I knew how it will end,and how will the story go,sort of,there wasn't the moment I didn't enjoy. And the part I loved the most was that Darien and Ella are geeks! I could relate to Ella, which I couldn't with Cinderella and that blew my mind.

“She reaches out to take the jacket. I hesitate for a moment, like Frodo with his Ring, but then I remember ow much crap Frodo walked into and I'd rather not end up like Frodo. So I give it to Sage.”

I can't explain it how much I loved all the geeky references! Especially Doctor Who ones!

“She's like a Dalek with a blacklist. Absolutely relentless.”

I loved all the characters. Except the obvious ones. I liked that one sister  wasn't bad, that was amazing change and awesome twist. Ella and Darien were written sooo good. Complexity of characters is there, and much apreciated. I liked all relationships in the book and how they felt real, not flat at all.

“I miss parts of it. I don't miss the actual place. That's never as good as you remember it.”

The writing was charming. I flew through the book, not even noticing how many pages I've read. This is the perfect book any geek and for anyone who loves Cinderella. It was charming, refreshing and so much worth of my time. I just hope we will have a sequel, because this just didn't felt like the real end. I reccomend to anyone to read this, even if it's not their comfort zone. I'm sure they will not regret it,not a minute!

“I'm half of my father. Half of my hero. And I am half of my mother. Half soft sighs and half sharp edges. And if they can be Carmindor and Amara--then somewhere in my blood and bones I can be too. I'm the lost princess. I'm the villain of my story, and the hero. Part of my mom and part of my dad. I am a fact of the universe. The Possible and the Impossible. I am not no one. I am my parents' daughter, and then I realize--I realize that in this universe they're alive too. They're alive through me. Fashioning my hands into a pistol, I point it at the ceiling, lifting my chin, raising my eyes against the blinding stage lights, and I ignite the stars.”
