Mustaches for Maddie is a book about Maddie, girl who have wild imagination, four brothers, two amazing parents, loves mustaches and find them hilarious and unfortunately have a brain tumor.

Maddie is a normal twelve-year-old girl. Well, except for the fake mustaches she carries in her pocket. She likes to make people laugh and slapping on a mustache, especially a fuzzy pink or neon green one, always gets a smile. Maddie hopes that the class queen, Cassie, will find her mustaches as funny as she does and want to play with her at recess. She's been self-conscious lately because her right arm only feels normal when it's curled against her chest and she's constantly tripping over her feet. But that's probably just part of growing up and not something weird, right?

When Maddie's arm continues to bother her, her parents take her to a doctor who gives them a shocking diagnosis: the cause of the abnormal behavior of her limbs is a brain tumor and she must have surgery to remove it. She's understandably afraid as he describes the procedure, but knows she must find a way to be brave and must face her fears--all of them--at the hospital, at home and at school.

She will need all of her courage not only to face her illness, but also to face Cassie at school. Both Cassie and Maddie are auditioning for the same role in the school play, but when Cassie accuses Maddie of lying about her tumor in order to get attention, Cassie's bossiness turns into bullying.

And as Maddie's surgery approaches, she begins to worry more and more about the outcome. What if something goes wrong? What if the doctors don't get all the tumor out of her brain? What will happen to her family? What will happen to her?

It will take all of Maddie's vibrant imagination, a lot of kindness-both given and received-and of course, the perfect mustache to overcome the tough stuff ahead of her.(source: goodreads.com)

There is no words I can say to all of you that will justify how much this book is important. It's really important to let kids know and parents too that they're not alone and that this kind of stuff happens every day and the compassion is really what matters the most.
It's really ungrateful to talk about this book because I can't talk about characters because they're real people. But,I loved an idea of this book.
I spent half of my life in hospital. I didn't have a brain tumor like Maddie,so maybe I can't compare it,but I still spent a lot of my life surrounded by doctors. And I know how much people who have any medical problem need support. And this book shows it in the best way - Maddie not only have a support by her teacher and friends from school, but she also have it from a lot of people from various countries! And I can't imagine how much that meant to her and her parents.

I think the book is written really good and it just make you to read more, especially because it's based on a true story. You get attached to Maddie and I promise you that your will be broken. But also Maddie has an amazing humor which made laugh in public like crazy.
And even though writters wrote at the end that Cassie is not real, there is some Cassie in some school that is totaly not okay to some Maddie. And I think that writers gave an excellent example how should a child behave in that situation. Just like in book Wonder there is always someone who is just awful to kid who have some kind of medical problem, and in this book that's Cassie. Anyone who has or sometimes in their life had a medical problem had a problem with some Cassie. And even though in Wonder and Mustaches for Maddie those are little kids, believe me,adults can be mean too. It did happen to me in high school, and on university. That will happen anywhere. But this book shows how a child should react in that kinds of situation and I liked that a lot! Because kids need to know how to handle it and they need to know that they're not alone, they just need to find out who will be by their side.  Having a friend is really importany, especially in this kind of situation.

Also,I think parents need to read this book too. Mine felt alone when I was going to surgeries because no one can understand a parent whose child goes on surgery, but they need support too. They need to know that their child will be okay, that everything will be okay.
So I will reccomend this book to anyone but especially to someone who went through this kind of stuff, like being in a hospital or having a child in hospital because this book will melt your heart ,it will make you cry,it will make you laugh but most important of all it will make you feel like you're not alone which is in this kind of situation a crucial thing.
So,parents, kids and teachers go read this book, give it to someone and make this story goes all around the world because I promise you, this story will not be forgotten!

Rating:  5 ladybugs :)

About the authors:

Chad Morris coauthored Mustaches for Maddie with his wife, Shelly Brown. It is based on the story of their daughter who faced a brain tumor with humor and optimism. He is also the author of the Cragbridge Hall series (The Inventor's Secret, The Avatar Battle, and The Impossible Race). Books in this series won the Utah Book award and the Silver Foreword INDIES award for Juvenile fiction. Chad also wrote one of the short stories in True Heroes: A Treasury of Modern-day Fairy Tales Written by Best-selling Authors. His story was based on JP Gibson, an amazing boy who faced cancer with courage, heart, and a basketball dream.

Chad grew up wanting to become a professional basketball player or a rock star. (Inspired by Animal from The Muppets, he has been banging on drums since he was eight years old.) Neither of those plans quite panned out. After high school, he left the Rocky Mountains to live in Brazil for a few years then returned home to write and perform sketch comedy while going to college. He graduated from BYU with a couple of degrees and became a teacher and a curriculum writer.
