Optimists die first

Life ahead: Proceed with caution.

*I wanna thank Penguin Random House and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This doesn't effect in any way on my opinion on book.*

Optimists die first is a book about Petula, girl with a terrible past and guilty and with multiple phobias who are just trying to live day by day. But when she meet Jacob, boy with more terrifying secret, she will be changed.

"Sixteen-year-old Petula De Wilde is anything but wild. A family tragedy has made her shut herself off from the world. Once a crafting fiend with a happy life, Petula now sees danger in everything, from airplanes to ground beef.

The worst part of her week is her comically lame mandatory art therapy class. She has nothing in common with this small band of teenage misfits, except that they all carry their own burden of guilt.

When Jacob joins their ranks, he seems so normal and confident. Petula wants nothing to do with him, or his prosthetic arm. But when they’re forced to collaborate on a unique school project, she slowly opens up, and he inspires her to face her fears.

Until a hidden truth threatens to derail everything.

To be honest, thing about this book that bought me was the title. I love it so,so much. It's so unusual and promising and the book was all I expected. It has humour(Petula is extremely funny girl and ironic),romance and most of all - cats! I loved how the story flows and how the reader get sucked in the book right from the very first page. It's interesting, doesn't have dull descriptions and it's so heartbreaking. I enjoyed it so much! I loved every charachter and it's just so complete novel,if you know what I mean.
Romance between Petula (I love this name so much, even though Petula doesn't like it) and Jacob wasn't forced for a minute and that's the thing I liked the most. Their romance was very realistic and that's the best thing about this book. Also,I loved how she fell for a guy who doesn't have an arm,and that's hard to find in YA books these days (correct me if I wrong). All the other characters were not left behind and they were really big part of this story even though they were not main characters which I liked a lot.
And last but not least,I liked how the style of writing keeps you reading. It was charming, funny and fast paced which is a big plus from me.
