Title: Fan the fame
Author: Anna Priemaza
Genre: Contemporary
Release Date: August 20th

Equal parts Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl and Jennifer Mathieu’s Moxie, this fiercely crafted, feminist YA novel takes on fandom, accountability, and doing the right thing. Even when it hurts.

Lainey wouldn’t mind lugging a camera around a video game convention for her brother, aka YouTube superstar Codemeister, except for one big problem. He’s funny and charming online, but behind closed doors, Cody is a sexist jerk.

SamTheBrave came to this year’s con with one mission: meeting Codemeister—because getting his idol’s attention could be the big break Sam needs.

ShadowWillow is already a successful streamer. But when her fans start shipping her with Code, Shadow concocts a plan to turn the rumors to her advantage.

The three teens’ paths collide when Lainey records one of Cody’s hateful rants on video. Because she’s determined to spill the truth to her brother’s fans—even if that means putting Sam and Shadow in the crosshairs.

Told through three relatable voices and arriving on the heels of the author’s widely praised debut novel, Kat and Meg Conquer the World, this sophomore novel is a nuanced and timely story about followers, fame, and fighting for what’s right.

Even with the push and pull of her two cultures, Nevaeh does what she's always done when life gets complicated: she stays silent.

It's only when Nevaeh stumbles upon a secret from her mom's past, finds herself falling in love, and sees firsthand the prejudice her family faces that she begins to realize she has a voice. *I want to thank to DC ink and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This doesn't effect in any way on my opinion on book*

I liked this comic so much! Characters were so well developed, the writing and the story is so good, and I just can't get over the fact how nice Bruce is! I loved the pace of the comic as well. Artwork was nice, although I hated that everything was blue. But still, a really nice artwork. Also, I liked how diverse this is. Although they only appear on one scene, it's nice we have a person in a wheelchair, a queer person and a muslim girl. The comic also talks about some tough things like bullying, and hurting yourself, and what it means to be homeless. But it also have warm friendships. At the end, this is an amazing comic and I hope we will see more of Catgirl!

I read this comic in one sitting. I liked it, but I didn't loved it. It's fast paced, and I loved fantasy part of it, but contemporary thing was totally dumb for me. I hate insta love, and this one has that. I hoped there will be more action. But, I loved tge universe and Mera is such a badass. Artwork was good, but I hated that everything was green. All in all, a good comic, but it's not what I thought it will be. At the end it was teased there will be more comics about Mera and I still want to find out what happened next. I would recommend this to young adults who just watched the Aquaman and want more of that world.

I loved this comic so much! The story is sad, but it's also inscrutable, magical, fantastical and just amazing.
I loved all the characters, especially Max and how she acted around Raven. Their bond and friendship is so well written and I love that.
I also really, really love art style. And the story is so gripping it's impossible to stop reading it.
I wish we'll see more of Raven!

I loved this one so much! To be honest, I went into this comic blind. I had no idea who is everyone. But, I saw that it was DC, I saw Meg Cabot and I was sold. And I'm so glad I did! It was funny, entertaining, full of action and just amazing. I also liked the art style. It was fresh, colorful and lovely. Story was so good, especially for teens, they will love it. I wish there was more, though. I could easily read this for days. I hope we will see more of Dinah soon!

My opinion

I loved this book so much! It has everything I love, and I enjoyed it so much.
It took me so long to read it, because it didn't grab my attention until Min escaped from Jinju. But when she was finally in space, it really became a good book.
When it comes to story, if I say anything, it will spoil the book. But the writing was exquisite! It was lyrical but at the same time it was full of action. Scenery was written so good I could imagine the ship where Min was so vividly I thought I was there. Worldbuilding is complex and exceptional. I guarantee you, there is no such book that have wordbuilding as this one. Plotwise, it was really unique. I have never read this combination of elements before. We have Korean mythology combined with science fiction, which basically means we have magical powers, foxes, tigers and goblins in space! How awesome that sounds? I loved how good it was interwined. Nothing was too much and everything was believable. I've never learned about korean mythology, but author explained everything so well. Magical powers of foxes are really interesting and it amazed me everytime I read about it. Korean mythology is so absorbing. I always wish there was more of it, but not this time. The author added as much mythology  you can ask for. The science fiction part of the book wasn't smaller than mythology part of it. It had science and technology and all the delights of space travel, but it was not too complicated or overwhelming. We had Min, who, with the help of her powers, infiltrated as a ship's member. She got the chance to see how Jun's life was as a cadet, and she at the same time saw how it would be if she had the chance to be the cadet.
Even though she was an imposter, she became friends with Haneul and Suijin.
Haneul and Suijin was really well developed side characters. Both of them were kind and caring, but I must admit that I loved Suijin more. Suijin was a non-binary character which is such an important thing to see in a middle grade book. I loved them more because Suijin was more attached to Min. Them cared so much about her and about her well being. Also, their powers were really interesting!
When it comes to Min, she is such a lovely character. She is kind, and passionate and caring. She will do anything to find her brother,Jun. Even if that means to fly away from Jinju, which she have never done before. She is so brave even though she's only twelve. She is determined to find her brother and nothing will stop her. I loved how her relationship with brother was written. Love between them just poured from pages. And that's why the end made me so, so sad. I won't spoil that for you, but this book does not have a happy end, which is really unusual for a middle grade book, but that's what I loved that.
Anyway, Min is a smart and fierce young girl, and it's a good example to all young girls out there.
I loved her character the most, how she was considerate she was but at the same time there was nothing that was too much for her brother. I am happy I read about Min, and she will always stay close to my heart.
At the end of the book, it was teased there will be a sequel and I hope with all my heart I will have the sequel in my hands soon!

******

At the end, if you are someone who love mythology and science fiction, this is a book for you! It has shape shifting foxes, and goblins, and dragons all set in space! It also has a cast of amazingly smart and fierce and brave characters that will stay with you forever.
For all readers who want to try something new and exciting, this is a book for you.
This is a book for all scifi junkies out there. This is a book for all readers who just want to read an amazing book. This is a book you don't want to miss!

Rating: a thousand stars

How to make friends with the dark

Format: eARC via NetGalley

*I want to thank to Random House Children's and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This doesn't effect in any way on my opinion on book*

How to make friends with the dark is a book about grief. It's a book about what it means to be left alone. It's about a girl named Grace (although she prefers to be called Tiger) and a giant hole inside her. This book will tell you how she became a friend with the dark.

Here is what happens when your mother dies.

It’s the brightest day of summer and it’s dark outside. It’s dark in your house, dark in your room, and dark in your heart. You feel like the darkness is going to split you apart.

That’s how it feels for Tiger. It’s always been Tiger and her mother against the world. Then, on a day like any other, Tiger’s mother dies. And now it’s Tiger, alone.

Here is how you learn to make friends with the dark.
(source:goodreads)

It's really hard to talk about this book. Not just because of spoilers, but because this book broke my heart. On multiple occasions I had to put this book down because it would make my cry, and I just couldn't go on. It's really hard to imagine what it feels like to be left alone in this world. That feeling, to be without a mother... That feeling creeped into me while I was reading this book. It's really important to have this kind of books. Books that deal with grief, books that shows young people that it's okay to feel sad and that they are not alone. This book made me cry, it made my heart ache and it left me heartbroken. But it also gave me hope, hope that sometimes, everything turns out how it's supposed to be. Sometimes, you learn to make friends with the dark.

"Life has this, life has that, and then something else comes along again, like a wave. We ride the waves. You go down, you go up, you go down, sometimes you just drift."

As I was starting this book, I had a hard time continuing it, because at the very start of the book, it broke me and it was hard to pick it up again. But, somewhere at the middle, I just couldn't put it down.
When it comes to writing style, it was exquisite! It was unusual, but it worked out so well! Also, I love how honest and raw Tiger's voice is. I must admit, I didn't agree with all of her decisions on her path to being whole again, but I could understand them.
Characters were really developed. Even the minor ones. I loved how we see that there are good foster homes but there also bad ones. Lala's character was so good! She is so kind, and caring, and she really loves kids. All of them. And whenever she talked with Tiger, you could feel warmth in her voice. Also, Teddy was an amazing character as well! She was stiffer than Lala, but I still loved her very much! When it comes to Georgia, though... You'll have to meet her, to see how foster home can be awful.
But when it comes to children in those homes... All of them broke my heart. It's so painful to me, everytime I think about it, how many kids are homeless. How many are left alone. And then, when they should feel safe, they go to foster home that makes everything even worse. It happens everywhere around the world, and I hope that will change one day.
Tiger didn't have a lot of friends. She had only one. Cake. Cake was a person who was always there for her. She was her support. And she is that all till the end. This is one more example of good female friendship in YA literature.

"Who would ever guess that it isn't your bones or your blood or your heart that keeps everything humming along inside you, it's your freaking mom, and when she's dead, it all disappears."

When it comes to male characters, we have Kai and Thaddeus. Kai is a first boy Tiger was in love with. He stole her heart. And her first kiss. She thought that will last. But he left her after he heard her mother died. And I must admit, I hated him for it. How could a person could do that? I think Kai is a perfect example how a person shouldn't act, never.
But Thaddeus was such a good character! I loved how kind and thoughtful he is, how he cares about other kids in Lala's home, even though he's adopted. He was a really good friend to Tiger, and I love that their relationship stayed on that - friendship.
And, at last, Shayna. Shayna is a really complex character. She is just a girl whose sister is left alone. And it's a sister that messed up her parents marriage. But nevertheless, she came. She was hard to love at the beginning, but with time, I really came to love her. I can't imagine how hard is to be a caregiver at 20 to someone who's only 16. But she managed to do it and I am so happy that we have sisters in this book that care about each other, even though they are thrown at each other. I loved how kind she was with Tiger and how protective they were of each other.

"Girl, you are in the shit and you will not be getting out soon. So here is how to make friends with the dark."

If you love books that have strong friendship, sisters that care about each other and amazing parent figures, than this is the book for you. In this book you will find well developed characters, amazing writing style and one and unforgettable Tiger, how will get under your skin forever. This book will break you, it will make you cry, but at the end, your heart will be filled with the hope that maybe someday every Tiger on  this world will find Shayna. That every Tiger in this world will be loved and cared for. That they will not have to make friends with the dark.

*I want to thank to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This doesn't effect in any way on my opinion on book*

Fear of missing out is a book about what it feels like to be ill. It's a book about choices. And it's a book about making the right decision.

Everyone has a fear of missing out on something--a party, a basketball game, a hangout after school. But what if it's life that you'll be missing out on?

When Astrid learns that her cancer has returned, she hears about a radical technology called cryopreservation that may allow her to have her body frozen until a future time when--and if--a cure is available. With her boyfriend, Mohit, and her best friend, Chloe, Astrid goes on a road trip in search of that possibility. To see if it's real. To see if it's worth it. For fear of missing out on everything.

First of all, look at that cover! It's so pretty, and it pictures a really important scene in the book. I love when cover actually have something with the story itself.
After I read The Fault in our stars, I never really read a book about cancer that was as good as The Fault in our stars. I read bad ones, like Before I die, and A Walk to remember which was a good book but so much different from The Fault in our stars. And that's the case with this book. It's different, but it's so good.
This is a book about Astrid, a girl with brain tumor, astrocytoma, tumor made of stars. See the irony? She has already fought a battle with it once, and she came out of it stronger. But this time, it seems like the tumor will win. And in fear that she miss it all out, brother's graduation, seeing his children for the first time, hearing her boyfriend's concert, being there for mother and so many other things, she explores the idea of cryopreservation- freezing her body - so she could see all those things one day.
And because of that, she, her boyfriend and Chloe, her best and only friend go on the road trip. But, beware, this is not a road trip book.

"Now I understand that we're both going to start telling each other lies we hope will turn out to be true."

I loved how this book is written. Chapters are really short, which I love, the writting style is amazing and I love how we learn about Astrid and hers family piece by piece. I love how we got to see what illness do to family, how it defines a family.
Also, I love how we see how Mohit and Astrid's relationship began and how it developed, side by side with Astrid's cancer. I can't imagine what it feels like to find out your girlfriend have cancer, especially at the beginning of the relationship. Mohit stayed with Astrid, he fought with her. And I can't imagine what it feels like to hear that your girlfriend have cancer again.
I loved how we saw through the book how close they were, how that illness made their relationship stronger.
I also loved friendship between Chloe and Astrid. Chloe is Astrid's only friend, only person willing to stay with her through everything. We need more friendships like this in YA. It's hard to understand  for someone who is healthy how hard it is to maintain a friendship despite the illness. Sometimes, you're just to tired to go out. Sometimes, you just want to be home and watch a movie. And it takes a special kind of friend who will understand that. And Chloe does.

"My tumor made of stars. The view from here is beautiful."

I loved how characters were developed and how they were written. We can see Chloe, who doesn't have a real feeling that her friend is dying, but she is also really real and sarcastic about it. It sounds weird, but it works.
Then we have Mohit. I had love - hate relationship with Mohit. One moment I would think how caring he is and then next one I would think he is a jerk. At the end, I realized it was just how he coped with the fact his girlfriend is dying. He was in pain, and all he was trying is to run away from it. He fought against himself, but at the end he chose Astrid. Like I said, even though it was hard for him, he really cared for Astrid. He was there for her, being her support on her path. He is gentle and kind and a little bit snarky but he is a good character nonetheless. And he play sax, so everything is forgiven! Also, Mohit is an Indian, so this book also has a diversity character!
I also loved how family is written. Her mother... I can't imagine how she felt. To go through cancer once, and then again... I think it is really important that it's showed how she wasn't strong all the time. She is a human as well, she is a mother and her daughter is dying. Mothers are strong, but not unbreakable. And finally, a book showed us that, no matter how mother is strong, there are some things that will break them. I loved her relationship with Astrid. She is a caring mother, a loving mother, but she is not over protective. She is always there for her and she will always be.
When it comes to Astrid's father, though... I am not saying he is not caring, but he could have been there for her more, even though he left them. And to blame Astrid and her mother for Astrid's cancer... I hate those kind of people, so I wasn't the fan of him. Although, I must say Astrid could have been nicer to him.
And finally, Liam. Liam is Astrid's little brother. It's hard to cope with the fact that you're dying. But to explain that to your little brother... I loved how this book showed us how a little kid can understand what it means to die, only if you explain it to him.

"You're right, Astrid. It is about me. And your mother. And Chloe. And Liam. It is about the people who love you. Because we're the ones who will be left behind to live with an Astrid - shaped hole in the universe."

If you love books with strong female friendships, supportive friendships, caring boyfriends and boyfriends who play sax, then this is the book for you! It will make you cry, it will make you wonder, wonder what would you do. "Should I stay or should I go?" kind of choices. This is a book for fans of The Fault in our stars and I am sure that everyone will love this amazing book!

Nick and June were here is an amazing contemporary book, filled with good quotes, it's a book with an amazing ending and it's certainly a book you will want to read.

Nick and June were best friends for years, until their relationship suddenly turned into something more. Now, June is coping with a new diagnosis of schizophrenia, a secret she asked Nick to keep for too long. Between managing her symptoms and her parents, June is just trying to keep it together. Nick is a reluctant car thief, supporting his aunt with the money and focusing on his art whenever he can.

But when June's condition sends her to the hospital and Nick's latest crime threatens to land him in prison, the two decide to run away. When the world is trying to tear them apart, can Nick and June find a way to stay together?

I had a really high expectations when I requested this book on Netgalley. I must say I wasn't disappointed, though I think that marketing this book as a book similiar to All the bright places will leave readers disappointed because this is not similiar to All the bright places at all. It has that aspect where they travel, but that's all.

"The world feels too big. Sometimes it feels so big you can't breathe."

I loved this book, nonetheless. It was realistic and breathtaking. I loved the writing style. The book have a really nice pace and I did not feel bored at any moment while I was reading this book. I felt like I was reading someone's testimony and I really loved that.
When it comes to characters, though,I can't say I loved any of them. I did like the story, a lot, especially that ending, but I couldn't connect with any of the characters and that's the only reason I gave this book a four star rating.
I thought that Nick is too selfish. I know that he's been through a lot, but June is the girl who he is in love with and I couldn't understand why would he risk her mental health. They seemed kinda immature but I love that at the end Nick showed some courage and took the mater in his own hands.
When it comes to family, both were too much in my opinion. I couldn't understand Nick's mother. But I did love his father's character.
Also, I love that we have PTSD in this book, even for a brief moment. I think that's an important topic and more books should have it.
I want talk too much about the story, because I think you need to discover all of it by yourself, but I love how the ending was so mature and realistic and how Nick redeemed himself at the ending. It's not something we see in a lot of ya books, so I was happy this one has it.
When it comes to June's schizophrenia, I think this book needed more of it. I really liked the represantion of schizophrenia in Made you up and Words on bathroom walls so I hoped for something similar here, but unfortunately it failed. That didn't ruin the experience for me, though.

"What does love mean to you? the little girl asked.

She didn't scare me anymore because I knew what love meant.

"It'll always be you." I said.

He looked so sad, but there was a hint of a smile in the corner of his mouth."

Anyway, if you love a good contemporary read that deals with really important topics and you love a road novels, that I'm sure you'll devour this one!

Title: The Seven Torments of Amy and Craig

This is the book I would highly reccomemd!
I liked the writing style and the atmosphere was magnificient. It really felt like I actually were in the 90s. Author is really skilled with words and that blew my mind. And that's the main reason why I gave this book 4 stars. I would like to read this author's next book, just because the way the author manipulates and weave words and how I ended up sucked right in this world. But, there is a reason why this wasn't a 5 star read for me.
My main problem with this book was that I hated the characters. They were really annoying, Amy especially, and I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. I though Amy was really rude to Craig and it seemed to me like she didn't know what she wants to do at all. And Craig was obssesed with Amy so much it got painful. And even though I didn't like that part of the book, I liked how the author showed us how toxic relationship look like. Not every relationship is the perfect one, and not every relationship is bad only if there is an abuser. Sometimes, relationships are toxic because we want them to work  so bad that we actually hurt each other. And this story is the perfect example of it. Craig was so in love that all he wanted was to be with Amy, even though Amy wasn't for him. It made their relationship really bad and author made that comes to spotlight.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading this book and it still deserves 4 stars. It's educational, writing is exquisite and atmosphere is spot on.
Sometimes, the book doesn't need to be perfect. Sometimes you just enjoy the words.

I enjoyed reading Fame, fate and the first kiss! It was classic Kasie West book, though this time we had a pinch of mystery which was refreshing. Although refreshing, I didn't really loved that aspect of the book. I read Kasie West's books because of romance, not because of mystery.
Anyway, I loved writing as usual and characters were amazing again! Like in every novel I read by Kasie West till now, I loved male character more. Donovan is an amazing character. He is caring, intelligent, well read, amiable and likeable. I loved him almost as much as I loved Hayden from The Fill-in boyfriend. He is a really good example of book boyfriend!
Lacey was less likeable character, but still enjoyable. I loved her humor, and how quirky and passionate about her job she was. Side characters were okay. I wish they were explored more, because I think they had a lot of potential.
I can't say that this was my favourite Kasie West book, those are still The Fill-in boyfriend and By your side, but I still enjoyed this one, even though I wished there were more things going on.
Anyway, if you love a good beach read or book perfect for reading by fireplace with a hot chocolate in your hand.
It's a fluffy read, swoony and perfect read for making you happy.
